Yachtwhere is a new social networking site for the yachting community around the globe. The site will integrate GPS positioning and mapping technology with state-of-the-art social media tools to give members to option of creating a free personal profile page and a profile page for their boat. Available tools will include blogs, albums, messaging, a marketplace and more. This is just the first stage of the "front end "of the site, the heavy lifitng which means pulling GPS signals from boats at sea is being handled by the 'backend team." Yachtwhere is an early stage development company being incubated by an alliance between Shark Communications, Frank Canovatchel (senior web professor at Champlain College) and Gary Savard -head of KGS software development company. Hats off to lead web developer Caroline Harris who has spent many a night and weekend building the site, Mike Porrata and Tony for their research, counsel and programming support.
